Early 1980s Vilano by Gerardo Livorno for Lillie Rubin Spring Pastel Plaid Skirt Suit

Early 1980s Vilano by Gerardo Livornese for Lillie Rubin skirt suit. Pale cream background with plaid in robins egg blue, light brown and white. Very much influenced by the classic Chanel look of the era, the jacket has a small standing collar with one hook and eye and button front closure (buttons missing). The neckline, pockets and front closure of the jacket are all accented in well-constructed thick self-braiding. The adorable pockets on the jacket are all designed in an inverted chevron opening with the same braiding detail! The skirt has a hidden side metal zipper and one-button closure. Made in the USA. Gerardo Livornese was an institution in the New York City garment district and when not playing bocce, collaborated with a number of important manufacturers and designers.
